Bone Grafting

Used In Dental Implant Treatments

What Is Bone Grafting?

bone graft is a procedure where we place either artificial bone or bone harvested from another area of your body into the designated treatment area.

Why Would I Need Bone Grafting?

If you are having dental implants placed, there need to be sufficient good quality bone for the implants to integrate.

How Does Bone Loss Occur?

There are a number of reasons that can contribute to advanced bone loss:

  • Long term denture wearer
  • Missing teeth (when we lose teeth the sites of the teeth start to fade away over time)
  • Gum disease
  • Natural ageing
  • Traumatic tooth extractions & tooth loss

How Is The Procedure Carried Out?

We are able to carry out the procedure with sedation for the patients comfort. We either harvest the bone from another site in your mouth or either use artificial bone. The bone block will be secured in place of the treatment site and closed up, allowing the area to heal and integrate.

Do I Need A Bone Graft?

When you decide to go ahead with dental implants we will do a thorough examination of your mouth and complete the necessary scans (CT, Xrays) so we can fully plan your case. We will be fully transparent with the costs and what is required for you to get your smile back.
